Nolen made his musical theatre debut in the summer of 2017 at the age of 9, playing the mischievous Michael Banks in Mary Poppins (Theatre Under the Stars) which resulted in an Ovation Award nomination and his first Joey Award. Nolen then played the lovable Chip in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, followed by John Bechdel in the critically-acclaimed Fun Home (Arts Club Theatre Company). He earned his second Joey Award for the latter. Shortly after this, Nolen fulfilled his childhood dream of by starring as the title character in Billy Elliot the Musical (Stratford Festival). He earned rave reviews from audiences and critics alike and proved his status as a true triple threat throughout his 119 performances.
Nolen's foray in film began in 2018 with a role in Good Boys (2019) (Universal), produced by Seth Rogen. Other credits include Christmas Waltz (2020) (Hallmark), Taking a Shot at Love (2021) (Hallmark), and Schmigadoon! (2021) - a parody of iconic Golden Age musicals starring Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key, to debut on Apple TV+ in July of 2021.
His journey into the arts began with dance lessons at the age of four, and his natural affinity for the art form was obvious. He was recognized often with titles and accolades such as Most Promising Junior Dancer, Provincial Dance Champion for Tap, and Provincial Qualifier for Tap and Lyrical. As a vocalist, Nolen was named the Most Promising Junior Male Vocalist and Most Promising Vocalist in regional competitions in British Columbia, Canada.
When not acting, dancing and singing, Nolen spends time with his family - he is the middle child of 3 boys - and loves his two dogs, Louie the Labradoodle and Phoebe the Bernedoodle.
